Beautiful Peaches Near Mountain Top Inn
Great peaches in Georgia? We hope you’re not surprised. Since 1995, Georgia has been known as the peach state, meaning that you’re never too far from a deliciously sweet bite of southern goodness!
About Georgia Peaches
Peaches originally came to us from China, and were traded along the Silk Road on their way to Europe and America. The Georgia Encyclopedia says that Franciscan Monks brought the fruit to our shores and the islands nearby as early as 1571. In celebration, Georgia has a peach festival in Fort Valley each year. During the festival, the world’s largest peach cobbler is crafted, sizing out to 11 by 5 feet and 8 inches deep. Not only is the peach cobbler delicious, it is also free to taste! Naturally, most of the peaches sold in Georgia are sold fresh. There are no major processing operations in the state.
