The Chattahoochee River runs from Columbus, GA to Phenix City, AL and its rapids are known for being both warm and wild.USA Today has named The Chattahoochee River Whitewater Express course one of the Top 12 man-made adventures in the world. Whitewater rafting courses are classified on an I-V rating system which outlines their water speeds, size of the rapids, and maneuvering difficulty. The Whitewater Express course is the largest class V course east of the Mississippi River, making it a great spot for experienced rafters. However, it’s also perfect for first-timers as well. The course was created around the local dam that is released daily, which allows for two types of course experiences: Classic and Challenge. At the start of the day the water flowing from the dam is flowing at a lower speed, perfect for beginners, and as the day wears on, the water flow speed cranks up and creates the biggest Class III-V rapids on the east coast. From the small waves for beginners to the tumultuous rapids that will challenge any whitewater rafting enthusiast, Whitewater Express’ Chattahoochee River course has a ride for everyone.
